Chloe’s Review of Broken by W. Winters

Rating: 2/5 stars

Broken by W. Winters is definitely an easy, quick read, but unfortunately, it didn’t offer much beyond the steam. If you’re looking for a book that’s heavy on the smut and light on everything else, then this will probably hit the spot. However, for someone like me who values depth and character development, this one just didn’t cut it.

The plot, while touching on darker themes that I usually enjoy, ultimately felt repetitive and lacked the emotional engagement I was hoping for. There were moments where the suspense or the tension could’ve been built up, but it just never reached the level I expected. I found myself skimming through sections, not because I was hooked, but because I wasn’t really invested enough to care about what was happening.

The characters, too, didn’t seem to evolve or grow in ways that would make me want to root for them. I didn’t feel their struggles or desires as deeply as I would’ve liked, and as a result, the romance didn’t feel as compelling. It wasn’t a story that stayed with me after I finished it.

That being said, if you’re after something that’s light on substance and just want to get lost in a fast-paced read with some intense scenes, you might enjoy it more than I did. But for me, it was just another book that lacked the substance I look for in my reading.
